Privacy policy

What we hold, what we use it for, and who we share it with. If you only read the site, we do not collect any information that identifies you personally.

This is an English translation for reference. If there is any difference, the Japanese version prevails.

1. Operator

The LCA Atlas editorial team (“the Operator”; run by an individual). If you need the name of the Operator to make a request for disclosure or similar under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, please contact us via the Contact page and we will tell you.

2. Information we collect

We use Vercel Web Analytics for access analytics, to learn which pages are read, where readers come from and how many there are, so that we can improve the content.

What is recorded: the URL of the page you opened, the site you came from (referrer), your country or region, your device type, and your browser and OS.
No cookies are used. To count visits on the same day, a temporary value is created from your IP address and browser information; this value is discarded every day, and the IP address itself is not stored.
It is not used to identify individuals or for advertising.

If you only browse the Site, we collect no information other than the above.

3. Purposes of use

Providing and maintaining the Site (login, displaying posts, saving progress)
Understanding which pages are read and how much, and improving the content
Dealing with misuse and breaches of the Terms of use
Replying to enquiries

We do not use the information for any other purpose, or for delivering advertising.

4. Provision to third parties and outsourcing

We do not provide your information to third parties without your consent, except where required by laws and regulations. However, we outsource its handling to the following businesses.

Supabase: authentication and database. Data are stored in the Tokyo region. (Operated by Supabase Inc., United States)
Vercel: delivery of the Site and access analytics (operated by Vercel Inc., United States)

These contractors are US corporations, but the data are stored as described above. The Operator selects and supervises the contractors.

5. Retention period

Account information: until you notify us that you wish to close your account
Published posts: these remain after you close your account. Deleting a discussion that already has answers would take away the footing of people who read it and made decisions based on it. In this case, the author shown on the post changes to “Former user”, and the link to your profile is removed.

6. Requests for disclosure, correction or deletion

You may request disclosure, correction, suspension of use or deletion of your own information. Please contact us via the Contact page. We will respond within a reasonable period after confirming that you are the person concerned.

You can change your display name, ID, role and “About you” yourself at any time from your Account page.

7. Changes

If we change this policy, we will announce it on the Site.
